Indigenous art project
On Monday the 22nd of July we started our partnership program with Tarneit P-9 College. Over the next 5 weeks every Monday (from 12 to 1.30) Tarneit Senior College year 12 Students will be working with Tarneit North Kindergarten children on a Collaborative Indigenous Art Project.
This project is being lead by Mr Stephen Baker (Leading Teacher Student Engagement Tarneit Senior College), Miss Woods (Year 12 Teacher), Louise Pititto (Nominated Supervisor Tarneit North Kindergarten) and Year 12 students and sisters Shania and Tuqiri from Gumbaynggirr tribe.
When the children aren’t directly involved with the project (waiting for their turn or not keen to join in) they were engaging in a range of activities with the College students, this included ball games, pretend play, outdoor activities and generally the Kindergarten children including the College students in their play. As you can see by the photos lots of fun was had by all!
We debriefed with the children about the experience after the College students left. The children all spoke very highly of the experience and stated they felt it was lots of fun.
Over the next 5 weeks we will continue to take photos of the project coming to life and also the engagement between the kinder children and the college students.
