Thivanka was born in Sri Lanka, the second child in her family. Five years ago, she migrated to Australia. While living in Sri Lanka, she worked as a Montessori teacher, but unfortunately could not continue her work in Australia, so began work as a Customer Service Representative at Coles Express prior to studying with bestchance Training.
Thivanka has, “always wanted to work with children,” to help them grow and watch them explore the world. When deciding where to pursue her studies, a friend who had completed her Certificate III in Education Support recommended bestchance Training. During her studies, Thivanka felt supported by her educators and was impressed by their clear and concise lessons, ensuring the students understood the subjects.
Before the completion of her course, Thivanka was offered employment at her work placement centre, and is currently working as a Co-Educator. Thivanka’s amazing work ethic and dedication was further recognised, when she was awarded Student of the Year for Work Placement at last year’s graduation ceremony. She was so happy with her experience, she recommended bestchance Training to her friend, who will be studying her Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.
Having already accomplished so much, Thivanka knows where her path leads. Her plans for the future are “to finish my Bachelor and work as a Teacher,” and there is no doubt she will succeed! Next month, she begins her Bachelor of Teaching, whilst continuing her work at the child care centre. Her dedication stems from her passion to create a better world for children. When asked what her superpower would be, Thivanka replied, “To remove hate, jealousy and cruelty from peoples’ minds.”
